Join us at National Drive Electric Week in Austin

Join us at National Drive Electric Week in Austin
2017 Toyota Prius Prime Advanced.

The 2017 edition of National Drive Electric Week (NDEW) is a prime time to see, touch, and experience a broad range of electric vehicles—and if you are planning on attending the Austin, Texas, event on September 16, you can get up close and personal with our 2017 Toyota Prius Prime. According to the sponsoring organizations—Plug In America, the Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association—there are a total of 288 events scheduled over the course of the week of September 9-17, taking place in Australia, Canada, Denmark, New Zealand, the United States, and elsewhere.

For the Austin venue, the organizers expect to have a total of 59 vehicles on display by their respective owners, covering a wide range of electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) models—which have been driven a cumulative 1,476,340 electric miles. By far, Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model S/X/Roadster, and Chevrolet Bolt/Volt models will be the most prevalent, representing about 2/3 of the total cars expected. Our Prius Prime Advanced PHEV will be one of the two Toyotas represented, and four Zero motorcycles will be on hand as well.

Some of the owners may be offering rides or test drives in their vehicles, and of course all will be available for viewing and the customary kicking of tires—but the most valuable activity may be 1-on-1 discussion with these owners about how they are using and living with their rides as daily drivers. The interiors on EVs and PHEVs can also be quite interesting, as they can be a significant departure from their petrol- and diesel-only relatives. Our Prius Prime Advanced, for example, is fitted with a central array of 3 screens, including a vertical 11.6-in HD multimedia touchscreen display and dual 4.2-in multi-information displays (MIDs), plus a color head-up display (HUD) in front of the driver.

We hope to see you at the Austin event. Look for our silver Prius Prime, and we will be happy to chat it up with you and offer a ride so you can experience the Prime’s silky-smooth EV mode. Or find an another event near you and indulge.
