There’s nothing better than an old-fashioned date night with your partner. But, what if it didn’t have to be so “old-fashioned” and you could still enjoy the benefits? There’s no denying we live in a tech-centric world. Whether you consider yourself a digital diehard or not, there are plenty of ways you can spruce up your next date night by using technology to your advantage.

With a few simple adjustments and additions, you can add another element of fun to a more traditional date night, especially when you choose to stay home. Plus, using technology can help you to enjoy more of your night, rather than stressing over how to prepare for it.

Not sure how to get started? Let’s look at a few ways you can enjoy a night at home with your partner while incorporating some fun tech trends.

Make Traditional Turn Tech

There are countless ideas you can bring to life for a romantic date night at home, including:

  • Setting up a private movie theater
  • Cooking dinner together
  • Having a game night
  • Creating an indoor campsite

But, mixing a few “old-school” ideas with technology can make any experience even better. Having a movie night? Take advantage of smart home technology to set the thermostat exactly where you want it to be, set the mood with dimmed smart lighting, and start your fireplace with the push of a button to make things cozy.

With digital devices, date night can be any night of the week. If you want to have a romantic dinner ready when you both get home from work, use Bluetooth technology to control your Instant Pot or slow cooker or even to keep something warm in your oven. As a bonus, your house will smell amazing when you get home.

If you want to feel like a smart home pro, create pre-made settings on your phone for your next date night. When you do, you won’t have to go through each setting during your actual date. Instead, you can simply push your “date night” button and watch all of your changes come to life. Try that and tell us you don’t feel like James Bond – we dare you.

Take Things Outside

Yes, you can take advantage of technology and still enjoy the great outdoors. In fact, you might be able to enhance your outdoor date night by using tech trends to spruce things up. First, like the push of a button with a smart home interior, you can automate your outdoor experience to make date night less stressful.

Create the perfect hangout space for you and your partner, including things like:

  • Tables and chairs
  • Lounge seating
  • Cocktail bar
  • Garden benches

Then, set up outdoor lights, a security system, and even hidden speakers that can be controlled from your phone. You can enjoy cuddling on the patio furniture with your partner while sitting under the glow of globe lights and listening to your favorite music.

Other tech trends you can use to enhance your outdoor experience include an outdoor entertainment area. Or, get really romantic with a digitized outdoor spa. What’s better than a hot tub night with someone you love? Being able to control that hot tub from your phone before you ever step in.

Being able to digitize your next date night with technology can take your experience to the next level. Use smart home features you already have, or invest in some new tech to add a special touch to date nights at home.

Your Move

One 2019 study found that 69% of homes in the U.S. have at least one smart home device. If you haven’t jumped on board yet, these devices can make your everyday life much easier. From controlling the temperature in your home when you’re not even there to managing your home security, controlling your home from your phone is convenient, easy, and fun. You can have even more fun with that technology when you apply it to date night, so get creative, and enjoy taking your romantic night to the next level.
