Resideo has enhanced its ProSeries home security platform with the addition of the FirstAlert VX1 Video Doorbell, the first such product from Resideo since it acquired fire safety brand FirstAlert in April 2022. Designed for professional installation, the doorbell integrates with the Resideo Total Connect 2.0 app. Concurrently, the company also announced they are adding Apple HomeKit integration to enable homeowners to control their security system from the Apple Home app.
Wired Design, Extreme Weather Support
With its wired design, Resideo’s FirstAlert VX1 Video Doorbell has access to non-stop electrical power and can operate under extreme weather conditions, including temperatures ranging from -40 to 122℉ as well as a shell that offers protection against humidity, dust, moisture, and UV radiation. Other feature highlights include:
- AI Integration: In a fashion similar to the Google Nest video doorbells, the doorbell camera detects and differentiates between people, packages, vehicles, and animals to reduce false alarms.
- Video Quality: In addition to 5-megapixel camera resolution, the doorbell features a wide-angle lens and brings infrared and color night vision to the app.
- Encrypted Video: Through the Resideo Total Connect 2.0 app, both live and recorded video can be accessed from anywhere. Subscription-based service plans can be added onto security company contracts to bring seven- or 30-day video history capability. Professionals can also be granted access to view security video incidents through the company’s AlarmNet platform.
Resideo says the FirstAlert VX1 Video Doorbell will become available through their ADI Global Distribution unit and other distributors in the U.S. and Canada in early summer 2023.
HomeKit Support Heads ProSeries Platform Updates
The Resideo ProSeries security platform has also been expanded with new integration and products. Foremost among the changes for Apple device users is integration with the HomeKit platform for ProSeries security systems, which will enable homeowners to control their security system with Siri voice commands and the Apple Home app.
Furthermore, the Resideo Wireless Outdoor Motion Viewer has been added to the range, offering another option for monitoring indoor and outdoor spaces. It will integrate with the security systems and Total Connect 2.0 app, and incorporates end-user video verification and false alarm avoidance tech to bolster effectiveness in professional monitoring.
