For the first time in the brand’s history, Yale Home has brought a smart lock to market with a built-in fingerprint reader in the form of the Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch. Furthermore, they have also launched the Assure Lock 2 Plus for the Apple iPhone segment, a smart lock compatible with the Apple Home Key feature. Both new smart locks are available for order today.
Where to Buy
The smart locks are available through ShopYaleHome.com, Amazon and Best Buy.
Assure Lock 2 Touch: Unlocking with a Fingertip
On the heels of the Assure Lock 2 launch, the new Assure Lock 2 Touch builds upon the new Yale Home security platform by adding a fingerprint reader to the face of the lock. Integrated into the lock’s Yale logo, the biometrics-based feature enables locking and unlocking with the touch of a fingertip. The lock can register up to 20 different fingerprints, enabling touch access for an entire family if desired.
Depending upon the specific model selected, the lock can also be operated by tapping a PIN code on the touchscreen or keypad, using a voice assistant, a physical key, or the Yale Access app.
Assure Lock 2 Plus: Apple Home Key Convenience
Yale’s first smart lock to support the digital Apple Home Key feature, the Assure Lock 2 Plus enables homeowners to access their front door with a single tap from a compatible Apple iPhone or Apple Watch. When the Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus has been synched with the phone or watch, the digital home key resides in the Apple Wallet and the door can be accessed by bringing the mobile device close to the smart lock.
For all users sharing the same Apple HomeKit home, the Home Key will appear in their Apple Wallet after initial setup. Additionally, Apple Home Keys can be shared with other family members and guests not residing in the home by sending them a secure invite.
And, similar to the Yale Assure Lock Touch, depending on the model selected the lock can also be operated by tapping a PIN code on the touchscreen or keypad, using a voice assistant, or the Yale Access app. There is currently not a Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus model with a physical key.
More Features
Both of the new smart locks offer standard Bluetooth and Apple HomeKit connectivity for broad access and automation options (for instance, with our Yale Home and August Home smart locks at Digitized House, we have an Apple HomeKit automation routine that runs each evening at 10:00 PM to lock them down for the night). The locks also support the drop-in Yale Wi-Fi smart module for additional access and automation options.
